Rainy Days and Thursdays…

Isn’t this supposed to be what love is all about? Don’t we marry with the hope and intention of barefoot walks in the rain, sweet, soft-lip kisses, and togetherness on a scale otherwise unattained?

Marty Pitchford here again, one of the characters from the book The Method Writers. My writer, the one who created me, took off again like a fighter jet off an aircraft carrier. Does he not enjoy blogging on Thursdays or does he recognize I’m the better writer? Either way, you’re stuck with me.

Ok, so I’m a dreamer. I believe life should cradle a passel of passions, one of which would involve the passion between husband and wife. I grant you that like this photo, the clarity of reality is not quite so defining as the somewhat opaque reflection of desire. But desire should fuel us to embody in reality what our desires view within the contours of our hearts and souls.

I know, I know. I’m all abstract here. Must be the poet in me. I just want this picture blowing through my life like a warm spring breeze or a snuggling autumn wind. Unfortunately, my creating writer decided I would marry a cold, over-sexed woman whose only focus in life is her own self-gratification.

Isn’t that a crass way to treat a character? My wife, Jessica, stuns you with her high-octane sexuality and heart-crippling good looks. I still cannot figure which of the two hit a man (or even woman in her case these days) first. You cannot help but acknowledge her eye-stealing figure nor the challenge in her eyes.

Yep, that’s her. See what I mean? I suppose I should have looked deeper into her personality when we met. I once wrote a poem about a cold-hearted woman with the line, “Temperature is so hard to see.” Particularly true of Jessica, the heat from her passions blinded me from the truth of her heart. Her life does not truck fuel from her heart. Her fuel’s source most definitely arrives from more nefarious regions.

So the contrast between who I married and who I wanted to marry remains stark and harsh. There could not be more polar opposites than these two people. I wonder how many couples get caught in this blunder of epic proportions. Must be quite a few given the divorce rate out there.

Alas, we characters get stuck with our mates much like you people in ‘reality’. But what is reality anyway? I am married to this foxy vixen and miserable in my book life. How many of you out there are trapped in a relationship? To complicate matters (yeah, my writer really wanted to stick it to me), Jessica and I have a lovely daughter. Come check us out in our story.

In fact, you might say our lives are an open book. (Hey, I know a good pun when I see one!). Also, please consider pledging some bucks to launching our book on Kickstarter.com. Kickstarter is backed by Amazon. In fact, Amazon is a key player in tracking all the pledges, so you may pledge with confidence. Check out the video and then read about our project. We sure would like to have our story out there for the world to see!

Until next Thursday, I am Marty Pitchford filling in for the mysteriously missing Michael Ray King.

Characters Have Lives Too!

Hi folks! Marty here. Marty Pitchford. What? You haven’t heard of me?
Crap. Life always gets hung up in editing. You know, in this book I went through a helluva lot of grief. I can’t go into detail, of course. That ‘spoiler alert’ deal doesn’t fly when a book’s IN EDIT!
What the heck. You know, I have a life. I have a beautiful daughter and some great writer friends. Georgie Mae, Dorian and David. Without them and Annabelle, my daughter, this wait for the book to come out would be too much for me to handle.
There are times when I don’t handle situations well. Does this ever happen to you? Yeah, you know, we’re all human and we all make mistakes. We all have our crisis moments and we all screw them up from time to time. I just want to ask one favor of you. Ok, maybe two favors, but that’s it.
First, when you read the book, root for me. A fella needs all the support he can get these days, right? I run into some real stinky situations.
You don’t believe me?
Oh, you don’t believe I’m real?
C’mon! Characters have lives too! Ask any author. We’re always trying to steal scenes and sometimes the entire book. We want everything to be about us and we want to be the hero every time out. Sounds like everyday life, doesn’t it?
I can’t believe after all I’ve been through in this book to entertain you, I would get more respect. Oh, yeah, but the book’s still IN EDIT! Isn’t it? That really sucks.
If the book weren’t IN EDIT, you would know. Life as a character can be hell. You always feel manipulated. You always feel used. Then sometimes, if you’re really lucky, you get the girl or the money or the mansion or even better, your life’s dream.
Oh, the second thing. I thought you’d never ask. We, Georgie Mae, Dorian, David, and myself, want to give this book the best send-off a book can get. Would you consider clicking on the bookcover above and to the right and pledging some money to our book launch project? Oh, come on! We’re only asking for a buck or two. Heck, you’ll own a piece of the project if we make our goal. If we don’t, you don’t spend a dime.
Why is it so hard for people to pledge even one dollar? This is for a good cause. A book launch. By poor writers. No, not poor writers in that we cannot write, but poor writers financially. We don’t have the funds to get this book off the ground properly.
But if we reach our goal on http://www.kickstarter.com, we will be able to market our book at least in the state of Florida. We will also be able to purchase necessary things like tables at major book fairs, hotel rooms, recoup some of our editing expenses and a host of other cash requirements that we go over on the website.
Yes, characters have lives too, and we need your support. Please. Click on the picture up high and on the right, and pledge somemoney to our cause. We’re not there to tap out your wallet. We just need your commitment to help us out financially.
Thank you for stopping by. I look forward to seeing you again!

Wow, we’ve had a very newsworthy week!! We did indeed, click-as-one on Thursday night and launch our baby on http://www.kickstarter.com. The Method Writers novel is only weeks from being a wonderful reality after months of work and planning. We love it! And we know you will too, so be sure to get on board RIGHT NOW and become a supporter – and get a great reward as well as great book! We only have a few weeks to make our goal, so get your pledge in today at kickstarter.com! And then come brag to the Rogues!!

Also, our multi-talented Rogue,Bridget Callahan, had an impressive art debut on Friday, Oct 7 at Simple Gestures in St. Augustine, Florida. Her fabric art is unique and emotional and I have no doubt will be worth a great deal more in the future. I was totally and completely blown away by the power her art conveyed. Way to go, Ms. B!

So, hope you had a great week too and if you’d like to tell us about it, just drop us a comment! We’d love to hear from you. Be well.
