Yes, last Saturday at the Florida Heritage Book Festival was an early and long day, but truly one of those that great memories are made of. We even turned the head of a St. Augustine police officer as he drove along King Street in the opposite direction of Georgie’s Diner. You can bet we teased our own “Georgie” about that, too. One for all and all for one in our black Rogues Gallery tees.
Among the wonderful things I’ve come to treasure in being a Rogues Gallery Writer, is our no-kidding camaraderie. Our friendship and honesty has made me not only a stronger and better writer, but an improved human being, as well.
There are few places in my life where this type of unconditional respect, concern and support are present but they are blessings in my life beyond description, even for a wordsmith. And, for the most part, they evolved because I am a writer.
Being a writer is a privilege and a responsibility, a gift and a vocation: an opportunity to change the world, one word, one sentence, one paragraph at a time. We can be the bearers of hope and love in a world full of hopelessness. We can bring someone that ray of possibility when all in their life have ridiculed them for their lofty dreams. We can provide instruction, escape, or freedom. The possibilities are endless!!
We are writers. Writing is easy…all it takes is love!
